Wilderness Awareness School is dedicated to caring for the earth and our children by fostering understanding and appreciation of nature, community and self.
Ingwe's Wilderness Trail. Ingwe one of the elders of our school gave the name of "Ndaka" to our advanced mentoring program for teenagers after a 12-year old Akamba young man, Ndaka who mentored him as a child. Ingwe offers some great CD's and books on his site that are filled with his incredible stories of growing up in wild Africa while being mentored by Ndaka and other members of the Akamba tribe.

Red Fox Friends has sprung out of a group of long-time Vermont Wilderness School students and supporters in New Paltz, New York. Red Fox Friends is dedicated to fostering the culture of community within the experience and appreciation of nature.
Schools and programs founded by former apprentices
Four Feathers Wilderness Programs are designed to bring people to life through wilderness living and nature awareness education. Four Feathers was founded by Michael Trotta, assistant director for our summer camps, and Lynn Trotta, a former apprentice and instructor.
Owl Creek Programs Founded by Vermont Wilderness School Apprentice Program graduate Kevin Glenn, offers unique wilderness-based education workshops to guide people towards a healthy connection to nature, self, and each other.

Kroka Expeditions provides a unique blend of modern adventure sports and the ancient art of wilderness living.
The Maine Primitive Skills School teaches life skills that have been tested globally for twenty-five thousand years.
Jack Mountain Bushcraft offers traditionally outfitted and guided canoe and snowshoe trips, realistic courses in wilderness survival and traditional northwoods skills, fly fishing excursions, and the Earth Skills Semester Program.
Wilderness Drum is an information and education resource for wilderness survival, primitive skills, and wilderness spirituality.
Keeping Track's mission is to inspire community participation in the long-term stewardship of wildlife habitat. We teach adults and children to observe, interpret, record and monitor evidence of wildlife habitat in their communities.
Outdoor Nature Child, a resource site for parents, is a great site for games, activities, stories, nature books, wilderness skills and much more for your outdoor-nature-child. No previous experience is necessary.
