Meet your Mentors

Dhyana Miller – Lead Mentor, Founding Director

Dhyana Miller lives, with gratitude, in the Connecticut River Valley of Western MA, where she mentors teens and youth finding their ever-emerging true nature and creates permaculture landscapes. She cultivates place-based community resilience, as Founding Director of Full Moon Girls nature awareness immersion program, following in the tracks of her Hampshire College B.A. in conservation biology and experiential education. Dhyana implements permaculture design with Regenerative Design Group of Greenfield MA and in 2013 founded the 1st Northeast Women in Permaculture gathering. She thrives on wildcrafting, playing lilting fiddle tunes, storytelling, singing, contact improv dance, and co-creating ritual that feeds a renewal of creative culture, within nature, for a time beyond our own.

Ruth has been living in western Massachusetts since the spring of 2014 and is very excited to have found Full Moon Girls!  She has taught and mentored in outdoor and nature education for about a decade. Ruth graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Environmental Geosciences and traveled west to
California and Colorado to intern with various outdoor focused programs.  She enjoys rocks, rivers, sunshine, birds, gardening, observing the changes of the seasons, and having shared experiences with others in nature.  She also enjoys handcrafts like sweetgrass braiding and basket-making.  Ruth is currently studying herbalism and Shiatsu and hopes to incorporate this knowledge into the program. She also hopes to share her sense of natural wonder, appreciation of cycles, and strength through song with the Full Moon Girls participants.

Melissa Winchell – Regenerative Admin and Development

FB Miel

Melissa Winchell joined the Full Moon Girl family almost five years ago when she came to volunteer and explore with the girls. She fell in love with the program and has continued with it since! Her experience includes leading backpacking, canoeing, and wilderness trips, facilitating a course on the deconstruction of privilege and oppression, and her deep rooted passion for women’s empowerment work. Having graduated from UMass with a double major in Anthropology and Resilience Education, she seeks to find niches where she can further explore how student/learner empowerment can transcend current educational structures.
